SAFETY

Rules of the Road.  Please arrive with your bike in good working order, and with clothing and gear appropriate for the weather.  Be safe and courteous to riders and other road users.  Be alert. Follow Kansas Law for cyclists:  signal turns, slowing and stopping; observe traffic lights and signs; ride no more than two abreast.

HAM Radio Volunteers will provide communications and logistical support.  Volunteers from various local amateur HAM radio clubs will be at Broken Arrow, at the rest stops, and on the paved roads.  HAM radio operators can communicate along the route even if mobile phone service is lost.  HAM's includes mobile medical volunteers who can perform basic first aid and will contact Emergency Medical Services if treatment beyond first aid is required.  HAM's can also provide transport back to Broken Arrow for any rider with mechanical and/or physical problems.

With help from HAM's we can make Octoginta even safer.  Be sure to thank them when you see them on the ride!
